SUMMARY:Rope Rescue Technician (RRT)
DESCRIPTION:This five-day course is designed to meet the certification requirements for a Rope Rescue Technician based on NFPA 1006\, 2022 edition. It will include training on the participant’s ability to evaluate\, manage\, and perform a technical rope rescue as described by NFPA 1006 and NFPA 1670.  \nTopics: multi-point anchor systems\, compound rope mechanical advantage systems\, ascending and descending a fixed rope\, fixed rope systems\, patient pickoffs\, and highline systems.  Prepares participants to undergo competency testing for high-angle rescue.  The scope is to 1) familiarize participants with the high-angle environment and experience\, and 2) safely participate in the engineering and operation of simple to complex rescue systems. \nStudent Requirements:Students must bring the following equipment to class every day. \n\nFire department helmet or rescue helmet\nRope rescue or fire department gloves\nLong pants or coveralls – NO SHORTS\nSteel-toed and shanked safety boots\nLong sleeve shirts ONLY\n\nOptional Equipment: \n\nWater\nSun screen\n\nUpon completion of this course\, participants will be better prepared to safely contribute to rope rescue missions and support more advanced rescue teams during emergency situations.
